Louis Yeo
Resident conductor of Nanyang Girls’ High School Concert Band, Louis Yeo is also conductor of the National Institute of Education Winds (NIEW) and associate conductor of Nanyang Polytechnic Symphony Orchestra (NYPSO). He has since been referred to as an indefatigable figure on the podium.
Yeo has actively performed with the best ensembles in town, beyond that Yeo has conducted the Manhattan Municipal Band (USA) and the Singapore Police Force Band, had collaborations with prestigious international ensembles such as the Soka Gloria Wind Orchestra (Japan) and multi-Grammy Award winner Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra (USA).
He has worked with sought after artist composers Eric Whitacre, Philip Sparke, Frank Ticheli and Grammy award winner Nestor Torres.
Yeo earned his Masters of Music (Education) from the Kansas State University where he has undergone music education tutelage with Dr. Philip Payne and Dr. Ruth Gurgel. He studied conducting with Frank Tracz, Jacomo Bairos, Donald Linn, Volker Hartung and had masterclasses with Vaginia Allen, Allan McMurray, Christopher Huges, Hardy Martens and Yasuhide Ito.
Beyond his conducting and band directing commitments, Yeo teaches as an associate faculty at National Institute of Education (NIE), and is also an active adjudicator, having been invited as clinician and jury in festivals and music camps.
